Overview

The fight against greenwashing is gaining momentum – are you ready?

EU sets to finalise Green Claims Directive by 10 June 2025

The EU is close to reaching a deal on the Green Claims Directive, aimed at banning misleading environmental claims on products. The final trilogue between the European Parliament, the Council, and the Commission is scheduled for 10 June 2025. The directive would require terms like “climate neutral” or “green” to be scientifically verified, helping to prevent greenwashing and ensure honest environmental marketing. Preparations for the final talks are already underway.

Timeline of key milestones

  • 28 January 2025: First trilogue – mandates and priorities discussed
  • 24 April 2025: Second trilogue – key provisions examined
  • 10 June 2025: Final trilogue – expected agreement
  • 2025-2026: Transposition into national law
  • By 2027: Full implementation and enforcement, including penalties for non-compliance

At the Online Conference you will receive tips on how to avoid getting overwhelmed by the increasing requirements. Learn how to use Green Claims and sustainability labelling safely, including labelling without complaints, judgements you should know and statements you may use.
