Dietary Risk Assessment for Biocides

Katherine Clark is Senior Manager Toxicologist at Arxada in Basel, Switzerland, with extensive experience in regulatory toxicology, human health risk assessment and product safety evaluation. Over the past two decades, she has worked on the assessment of chemicals, biocides and plant protection products, combining regulatory expertise with practical experience in exposure and safety studies. Before joining Arxada, she held positions in regulatory toxicology and scientific research, including work on exposure assessment and nanomaterial safety.

Kathrin Gottlob is a Food Chemist. Since 2007 she has been working at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) evaluating biocide residues in food. She is a member of the ad-hoc working group ARTFood (Assessment of Residue Transfer to Food) which supports the Biocidal Products Committee with issues related to human exposure to biocides through food.

Saskia Klutzny is a biotechnologist and worked in the pharmaceutical research industry before joining the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) in 2018. As a Senior Scientific Officer she is evaluating the residue behaviour of biocides and is assessing the risk of consumers to biocide residues in food. She is a member of the BPC ad-hoc working group ARTFood (Assessment of Residue Transfer to Food) and is working on the advancement of assessment concepts and exposure models.

Fabien Rouessay spent about 15 years in the chemical industry and more specifically in the biocidal regulation area before joing Redebel Regulatory Affairs five years ago. Here he is a project and consortium manager: In addition to providing support during the whole dossier preparation process, he assists applicants in defending their dossiers throughout assessment challenging period also by representing them at meetings with competent authorities.

Bart Stokvis is a poultry veterinarian with more than 30 years of experience advising poultry farms on biosecurity, hygiene, and health management. Throughout his career, he has worked in poultry practice, breeding, and international technical support, helping poultry producers optimise flock health, welfare, and performance. His expertise includes disease prevention, biosecurity programmes, layer breeding, and poultry management across a wide range of production systems.

Katya Vasileva is Senior Scientific Officer at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), working in the Biocidal Products unit as a toxicologist and dossier manager. She has more than 20 years of experience in chemicals management and regulatory assessment, including previous roles within the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water and the Ministry of Economy. Her expertise covers the implementation of EU chemicals legislation and the scientific evaluation of biocidal products.

Michael Werner is a chemist as well as a certified (DGPT) and Eurotox-registered toxicologist. He has worked for various consultancies, as well as in the chemical and plant protection industries, and has almost 30 years of experience in human health hazard, exposure and risk assessments for PPPs, biocides and industrial chemicals. Michael has been working on biocides for nearly 20 years, with a focus on human health, efficacy and regulatory aspects across almost all product types, including the assessment of potential endocrine-disrupting properties of active substances and biocidal products, and their discussion and defence before regulatory authorities at national and EU level. At Stockmeier Chemie, Michael heads the regulatory affairs department with a strong focus on biocides in general.
