Overview

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) evaluates the environmental impact of a chemical substance or mixture across its entire life cycle — from raw material extraction to disposal. For chemical companies, LCA is key to meeting customer demand for product based carbon footprint data, identifying environmental hotspots for innovation, and understanding the role it plays in policy development.

This training course has been set up as a first introduction and does not require prior knowledge in LCA.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the purpose of LCA and its role in (upcoming) EU regulations and customer requirements
  • Learn what is needed to develop LCAs using suitable standards, tools, and data
  • Gain knowledge on communicating LCA results effectively within the supply chain and communication channels
  • Explore the Together for Sustainability (TfS) standard used in the chemical industry

Who will benefit from this training?

Professionals working in the fields of:

  • Sustainability, ESG, and CSR management
  • Regulatory affairs and compliance
  • Product stewardship and supply chain management
  • Starters in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and carbon footprinting

Sectors that should take part:

  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Specialty chemicals
  • Manufacturers using chemicals
