The new EU Detergents & Surfactants Regulation (EU) 2026/405 marks a major overhaul of the existing regulatory framework for detergents. Among other things, the new regulation introduces requirements for microbial cleaners, refill sales, digital product information and additional sustainability aspects.
At the same time, companies need to keep track of further regulatory developments, including the CLP Regulation, the Chemicals Omnibus Package, the Biocidal Products Regulation and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
As implementation deadlines approach, the focus is increasingly shifting from understanding the new legislation to preparing for its practical implementation. The 14th International Akademie Fresenius Conference “Detergents and Cleaning Products” addresses these developments and provides an overview of key regulatory and sustainability topics currently shaping the detergents and cleaning products sector.
