Compliance Issues Found in EU-wide Biocidal Products Check

In a recent EU-wide initiative, authorities from 29 countries examined 3,500 biocidal products, revealing that 37% fell short of meeting legal requirements. Of note, 18% lacked proper authorization others contained prohibited substances, particularly in disinfectants, insecticides, and repellents/attractants. About 60 banned active substances were identified, leading to market withdrawals and, in some cases, legal action.

19% had minor issues like missing supplier contact information, addressed with advice or administrative orders.

Notably, 14% of consumer disinfectants (out of 1,900) were non-compliant, prompting market removal due to issues like lacking authorization or incorrect labelling.

The International Conference “The Biodical Products Regulation“ in April will focus on the topic of enforcement, while also providing a comprehensive overview of the most recent relevant legal developments. Participating will help you to ensure working legally sound and compliant according to the current regulations. All details on the event can be found here.
