Endocrine Disruptors: Tenth International Conference to Discuss the Implementation of the EU Criteria

The EU wants to regulate endocrine disruptors – often colloquially called “environmental hormones” – more strictly. In November 2018, the EU adopted a strategy to this effect and now plans to examine the legal provisions on endocrine disruptors as to their suitability. Experts assume that from just under 100,000 known chemical compounds only a fraction have actually been checked for endocrine active, harmful effects. At the tenth international Akademie Fresenius Conference on “Endocrine Disruptors”, which will be taking place in Frankfurt/Germany on 12 and 13 November, representatives from the authorities will be discussing the current research and legislation status with scientists and experts from the industry.

Our participants and speakers will be looking at where the implementation of the guidance for the identification of endocrine disruptors in pesticides and biocides, which was published in 2018, currently stands. In addition, scientists will be reporting on endocrine testing in aquatic vertebrates. Another conference section will be devoted to the challenges of effective risk communication.
