Claudia Brünen-Nieweler is Molecular Biologist and Working Area Manager of the Molecular Biology Unit of the Chemical and Veterinary Analytical Institute in Münster with by now some twenty years of experience. On-site she is responsible for official analyses of food concerning species differentiation, detection of genetically modified products and pathogen detection, including validation of biomolecular methods and quality control procedures. In addition she is member of national, CEN and ISO working groups on food molecular biology techniques and convenor of the BVL and DIN working groups on species differentiation.

Giles Chapman is Head of Intelligence in the Food Standards Agency’s National Food Crime Unit (NFCU) in UK. He has been worked in the NFCU since shortly after its inception, joining after over a decade in criminal intelligence analysis within the UK policing environment. He has been responsible for delivering the Unit’s strategic intelligence assessments on the food crime threat, as well as managing the co-ordination of international operational activity targeting food crime.

Peter Fürst retired from the CVUA-MEL (Chemical and Veterinary Analytical Institute Münsterland-Emscher-Lippe) board in March 2019 and now works part-time at the University of Münster as a Honorary Professor. He joined the EFSA CONTAM Panel from 2006 to 2015 where he was Vice-Chair from 2012 to 2015. Since last year he has been a member of the EFSA FAF Panel.
