Bernhard Beitzke has more than 30 years of experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry in the area of F&E, production, procurement, HSEQ (health, safety, environment and quality) and the registration of chemicals. Since 2015 he has been working as an independent consultant for the hemp industry, since 2017 in the Advisory Committee of the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA).

Claudia Cascio is a Scientific Officer (PhD in Biochemistry) at the EFSA’s Evidence Management Unit (DATA) in Parma. She joined EFSA in 2017 within the Exposure Team and provides scientific support to CONTAM, CEP and FAF Panels in dietary exposure assessment.

Peter Fürst

Münster

Peter Fürst retired as the Director from the CVUA-MEL (Chemical and Veterinary Analytical Institute Münsterland-Emscher-Lippe) in March 2019 and now works part-time at the University of Münster as a Honorary Professor. He joined the EFSA CONTAM Panel from 2006 to 2015 where he was Vice-Chair from 2012 to 2015. Since 2018 he has been a member of the EFSA FAF Panel.

Oliver Keuth is a Food Chemist and Head of the LC and GC Laboratory in the Department "Special Analytical Services" at the CVUA-MEL in Münster. He is responsible for the analysis of contaminants and residues in food and feed.

German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), Germany

Robert Pieper is an Agronomist and is currently working as the Head of the Unit Feed and Feed Additives in the Department of Safety in the Food Chain at the German BfR in Berlin. Before joining BfR, Robert Pieper has been working as a Research Scientist and Lecturer in the Institute of Animal Nutrition of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin. He is an expert in risk assessment in feed and food.

Rafael Pérez Berbejal

European Commission, Belgium

Rafael Pérez Berbejal works in the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) and is responsible for the legislation on novel foods. He is leading the novel food team in the Food Processing Technologies and Novel Foods Unit. He joined the European Commission in 2002 and has been Senior Policy Officer on Food Safety since 2010.

Alexander Scherl is a Scientist working at Geneva’s SCAV (Service de la Consommation et des Affaires Vétérinaires), the official food control authority of the state of Geneva. He is leading the General Food Analysis laboratory at SCAV.

Franca Werhahn is an Attorney at Law at the law firm meyer.rechtsanwälte in Munich, Germany. She is also part of the crisis team and supports food companies in the event of a crisis and takes over the coordination of withdrawals or recalls as well as communication with the authorities.
