Frank Heckel is a Food Chemist and is the Head of Institute and Director of the Food Chemistry Institute (LCI) of the Association of the German Confectionary Industry (BDSI) since 2019. His predominant research areas are food safety (e. g. contaminants and process contaminants), food quality and instrumental analytics, primarily in the fields of cocoa, confectionery, fine bakery wares and savory snacks. Ron Hoogenboom is the Assistant Programme Leader Food Contaminants at Wageningen Food Safety Research, dealing with environmental contaminants, pesticides and toxins from moulds, algae and plants. Stephan Lebertz is a Chemical Engineer and is working since 2010 at SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS in Germany. He leads the group trace analytics where one basic periodisation is the analysis of emerging contaminants e.g. pharmaceutical residues or PFAS. Darena Schymanski is a Food Chemist and one of the heads of the speciality laboratory in the Department "Special Instrumental Analyses" at the CVUA-MEL in Münster. She is responsible for the analysis of microplastics and nanoparticles, elements and stable isotopes.
