17th International Akademie Fresenius AGRO Conference “Behaviour of Pesticides in Air, Soil and Water” from 22 to 23 June 2015 in Mainz (Germany)

Behaviour of Pesticides in Air, Soil and Water

The use of plant protection products in agriculture is now a matter of course. However, the repercussions of the applied chemicals do not only affect treated plants: (long-term) effects are also possible for their environment. The International Conference “Behaviour of Pesticides in Air, Soil and Water” by Akademie Fresenius, taking place on 22 and 23 June in Mainz/Germany this year, introduces industry practice, new scientific findings and regulatory developments regarding the topic.

The event is divided into three major topic areas. The area of “Regulatory Issues” will focus on news concerning EU-Regulation No 1107/2009 about the placing of plant protection products on the market, the status quo of harmonisation in the three zones, new legal provisions as well as the handling of the topic in China and Canada. The second topic area – “Environmental Fate” – deals among other things with nanopesticides, with soil modelling and with long-term lessons on pesticide leaching. The topic area “Exposure, risk assessment and risk mitigation” will discuss the exposure to residues in drinking water, groundwater monitoring, challenges of PBT-assessments and the results of the EMAG-Pest and the MAgPIE workshop.
